Another day at the lake
Thursday 29th August
Today started really well. We bought rolls from the little wooden chalet bakery at the campsite, made 2 x 2 picnic lunches, put the kettle on, walked to the bus stop to meet Anne and Chris Teager off the bus from Bled, came back for a coffee sitting outside the van, all walked to the car park outside the site for the free bus to the lake. All very similar to the day Natalie and David came - so far.
We had decided to walk around the lake as far as we wanted, have our picnic on a bench, have a paddle in the lovely clear water, find a couple of geocaches and turn round when we felt we'd gone far enough.
Our picnic, lunch and paddle stop.

All was going so well and we were so busy chatting, we hadn't really noticed the clouds - of course we'd heard the rumbles, but that, we assured Anne and Chris was normal around here.
People were out on the boat trip, others were swimming, others paddle boarding - some were even pretty well stripped off lying on the little beaches...
We were part-way back to our starting point when the rain started. Oh it'll just sprinkle a bit, then go away again, we said .... but the most almighty downpour descended upon us! We quickly made for a group of trees and for a while we were clustered along with families, dogs, draped towels, people's beach gear etc. Anne thought it might be drier by that tree over there, but soon it didn't matter where we were...

Eventually we realised that we just had to go for it, so by the time we reached the bus stop over the bridge, we were absolutely soaked to the skin. Without any planning, however, we arrived there just as the free bus back to the campsite came in and seconds later, the one back to Bled for Anne and Chris. So it was a very hurried - and soggy - goodbye and back to our respective holiday homes.
Just a thought from very hardened campers - A & C were going back to their smart hotel with warm shower and 5-course meal cooked for them .... mmm ....
