Savica Slap - Mount Vogel
Tuesday 27th August
Today we caught the bus to Savica where we had a drink at this cafe before the climb up to the Savica waterfall (slap).

The path was up hundreds of steps - took us about 40 minutes.
Well worth the climb to see the waterfall. A lot of the Savica river is through the rocks in tunnels - some discovered, some not. Here it appears out of the rock face
and falls into a shimmering pool
and continues down over the rocks.
Back down at base camp, we decided to carry on walking the path down to Ukanc village and the bus stop at the western end of the lake. We passed some beautiful chalet houses on the way.
And over the river again just before it reaches the Lake Bohinj.
Wednesday 28th August
We love the Slovenian buses. They run more or less on time and are very cheap. Today we caught the same bus as yesterday, but got of at the road leading to the cable car up to Vogel. It was fairly busy, so had to wait a while in the queue, but we were behind a young family from London so we had people to chat to. It's one of the big gondola type cable cars that hold about 30 people. The clouds were still quite low when we reached that stage.
Then we took the chair lift up higher, to Orlova glava.
Just amazing up here.
On the footpath we took from there, we came across this 'village' of cairns.
So we made one too - the one in the centre.
We met some very friendly goats.
Looking back through the valley with Bohinj Bistrica in the distance.
John took a photo for another couple, so they took one of us!
On the way down in the cable car. The western half of Bohinjsko Jezero (our lake).
On our way back to the bus stop, we detoured to see this small WWI cemetery.
Far too many were like this one - unnamed soldier - so sad.
