St. Omer and Licques

Tuesday 10th September

Some more motorway on a lovely sunny morning brought us to St. Omer.  We parked as usual at the Carrefour supermarket on the edge of town and walked into the centre.
Then lunch at Le Cygne.  (This is becoming quite a habit on our way home from our trips.)
I promised photos and here they are:
Starters -
Ann's is a cold cauliflower risotto.  Sounds rather strange, but delicious.
 John's is beef tartare.
 Mains -
Ann's is confit of duck with lots small pieces of interesting vegetables.
John's is pork with some of the same additions and a different one.
Desserts -
Ann's is an 'idee du jour', so I didn't really know what was coming.  Inside was part cake, part chocolatey ice cream with a brittle covering (possibly chocolate) and flakes of coconut on top.

John's is Mousse a chocolat with more chocolate on top.
It really is worth getting here a day early to be able to visit Le Cygne!
Then we came on to Licques - again as usual - to stay our last night in France.  Our ferry isn't until the afternoon tomorrow, so we plan to have a dip in the little covered pool here in the morning before we leave.

It's been a really amazing journey - we are returning home with so many happy memories of the places we have seen and the people we have met (and the food and drink that we have consumed!).

Thank you for being such loyal blog-followers.  We've enjoyed compiling our travelogue for ourselves and being able to share it.

Till the next time .....
